Travel company helps raise funds for employee fighting life-threatening illness
Sarasota, Florida, February 26, 2016 (Newswire.com) - While Take Three Nights (Take 3) is dedicated to helping travelers plan their dream vacations, the company is also committed to helping those in need – both in the community at large and under its own roof.
A prime example of the latter is Take 3’s ongoing effort to raise money for Philip Adam, one of its floor managers. In April 2015, Adam was diagnosed with Wilson’s disease – a rare disorder that causes too much copper to accumulate in the liver, brain and other vital organs. As part of his treatment for the life-threatening illness, Adam was prescribed a certain medication – that cost $100,000.
"Around here, being part of a team is a lot more than just a motivational message on the wall. The support I received from my Take Three Nights family - both financially and emotionally - likely saved my life."

“It was a catch-22,” says Adam, who has been with Take 3 since 2013. “I didn’t have insurance, but even if I did, an insurance company would have rejected the claim.”
Instead, Adam’s doctor reached out to the pharmaceutical company directly, and was able to get the cost lowered by 90 percent. But that still left him $10,000 short – and that’s when Take 3 stepped in with a series of fund-raisers, including bake sales, raffles and lunches. In addition, a charity event was held at a local Total Nutrition store, and Adam set up a Go Fund Me page.
Combined, these efforts helped Adam meet his initial goal and get the medication he needs – which will be administered over a 12-week period. Fund-raising efforts, including a car wash, will continue during that time, to help him cover additional medical expenses, including weekly doctor’s appointments and blood work.
“Around here, being part of a team is a lot more than just a motivational message on the wall,” says Adam. “The support I received from my Take Three Nights family – both financially and emotionally – likely saved my life.”
Since 2013, Take Three Nights has been a leading provider of three-night hotel packages at more than 40 premier destinations around the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. The company is focused on providing quality vacations to customers – those who like to travel last-minute, as well as those who plan their trips up to a year in advance – at up to 50 percent off retail prices.
